File No: The-K2-EP-10

Appearing before the dramacourt: The K2 EP 10

***If this is your first time browsing The Drama Files, please read The Rules section first for our reviewing and rating system***

Issues:

  1. Whether J4 should teach Dating 101?
  2. Whether the portrayal of the media’s role in audience manipulation is accurate?
  3. Whether JSS is the worst private security company ever?
  4. Whether Secretary Kim is actually more evil than Yoo Jin?

The Rule(s):

  1. Yes. Because she tells it like it is.
  2. To an extent.
  3. Absolutely. Never hire them.
  4. Yes.

Application:

RedRosette J: There was a lot going on in this episode and at times it was a bit difficult to follow. Just when you think you’ve got a handle on how many people are evil in this drama, it goes and adds another to the mix. There was some major development in the political plot stuff that totally went over my head. Something about Jang Se Joon (An Na’s dad) being re-indicted (?) for something that Park Kwan Soo falsified (?) Whatever. I don’t care about the politics in this drama. I was also having a hard time getting on board the An-Na train (What was the point of that photoshoot? Is she a model now? What about her fear of flash photography? So many questions). It also felt like the drama has now solidly confirmed the Je Ha/An Na romance (although I’m still #TeamYooJin. Don’t hate me LOL!).

Is it too late to make this happen?

Issue 1: Whether J4 should teach Dating 101?

RedRosette J: First revenge, now dating; this drama is all about being experts in something. So remember how we freaked out in a previous post about how CPR was not a reasonable excuse for a kiss? Yea. The drama just attacked that head on in the form of J4. This girl, although annoying at first, is actually hilarious and I totally would be BFFLs with her! She called it like it was and gave An Na some serious and realistic dating advice. And then proceeded to squeal like a high schooler when An Na called up Je Ha and said “You’re Mine.” LOL. That is a very accurate best friend reaction. I’m loving it and I’m definitely shipping these two girlfriends now! I do also applaud An Na for being bold and open with Je Ha about how she felt, but at the same time, it did come off a tad desperate what with that selfie and all (Sorry).

But yea. J4 should totally teach a class in (realistic) dating. Peeps from Woman With A Suitcase should take notes. Real adults are not afraid of kissing and physical intimacy. (Sorry. Not Sorry)

1
Reality check.
2
Thank God someone finally said it.
5
#adulting
3
Totally normal adult reaction when asked if kissed before.
4
Bring on the girl talk!
9
Pretty ballsy for a girl who’d been locked away in a tower.
8
Because true friendships involve lots of squealing!

RedRosette J Aside: Did anyone else notice how Je Ha can never seem to have a smoke in peace without something happening or someone interrupting him? LOL

RedRosette J Aside: Also J4 ❤ K1 4eva!

Adorbs!

Issue 2: Whether the portrayal of the media’s role in audience manipulation is accurate?

RedRosette J: I think this is quite accurate. At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, I do believe that mainstream media is largely manufactured to portray a certain viewpoint that it can have a significant impact on swaying viewers’ perceptions of reality. I think the whole talk show scene was really meant to show how Yoo Jin was using the media to manipulate how the public viewed her, and in turn her husband’s presidential candidacy. It also, to an extent, served to explain why they were so paranoid about An Na being exposed. In today’s society where public image and perception is everything, and where the presidential candidacy is basically a popularity contest, it sort of makes sense (but An Na’s role doesn’t have to be so exaggerated I think). I did like how the presenter deviated from the “script” and asked pointed questions, and you could see the audience begin to question Yoo Jin and the chips in the “perfect” facade starting to emerge. I also think they did a pretty decent job of bringing An Na in and having her talk about her mother’s death, so that we now know what her agenda is. All in all, I think that it was realistic to the extent that it portrayed how the media could be used to manipulate perception.

10
Let’s Manipulate!

RedRosette J Aside: I am still not sold on Uncle CEO’s motives though. Je Ha did ask him, but the response was vague and I think he has some other agenda.

11
Je Ha asking all the right questions.

Issue 3: Whether JSS is the worst private security company ever?

RedRosette J: We’ve been over this already. They suck. But I just had to rant about it anyway. What the hell were these guys doing while flower delivery guys filled the freakin place up with NERVE GAS?!?! OMG. And how could you ALL go off to lunch, even though its lunch time and leave the freakin VIP unguarded? Huh? I don’t get these guys. Aren’t they supposed to be highly qualified? They seem like they need to go back to Bodyguard School. To make matters worse, they show up at the last second after all the gas has already made its way throughout the building and get knocked out in like two seconds. -_-  And in general, why are they so behind what’s going on? They always seem to get the memo like a few HOURS after the stuff has already happened. What? And for a company that has a very centralized structure, how do you not know that Secretary Kim is sending out peeps to kill An Na? What about your super computer? OMG. I’m sick of asking the same questions over and over again. For once, I’d really like the private security people to actually be competent and smart individuals. Like you’d expect private security to be. #notimpressed

18
Ugh.
17
Boss man, were you born yesterday? Why would he tell you that?!?

RedRosette J Aside: Also, OMG it’s NERVE GAS! How is Je Ha able to fight these guys without passing out? even if he held his breath, its highly unrealistic. The whole point of using gas is that it has a bigger impact than say an intravenous injection or something. (turning logic off now)

12
This is nerve gas people.
13
This drama never ceases to amaze with how creatively they can make An Na run.
14
Look at An Na doing something useful for a change.

Issue 4: Whether Secretary Kim is actually more evil than Yoo Jin?

RedRosette J:  Here’s a bigger shocker: Secretary Kim is totally cray cray and straight up evil. I mean we knew she was off her rocker but this episode really pushed her into the forefront as a major player. It really seems like Yoo Jin is not the one in total control of what’s going on and Secretary Kim is calling all, if not most of the shots. In fact, Yoo Jin doesn’t even seem to be so evil anymore but just a product of her circumstances and past (Or maybe that’s just me sympathizing with her). We also knew that Secretary Kim had a somewhat disturbing obsession with Yoo Jin, and this episode totally confirmed that. Either that, or she’s a total psychotic control freak who can’t deal with stuff going off course. I like her character though and I’m looking forward toseeing how they deal with giving Je Ha her head once he comes back from the mission, because duh, obviously he’s going to come back.

21
Well Duh!

But yea. She’s totally freakin insane and evil. (With totally killer hair)

15
Subtle. Real subtle.
16
Obsessed much?

RedRosette J Sidebar:  I guess the blanket kiss is now in the running for top 10 kdrama kisses of 2016….

24

26
Uhhhh
25
Bam!
27
I know right?

Conclusion: Appeal Allowed.

Rating: 3= MM. Okay Fine. (It was whatever. The only stuff I was super excited about was Secretary Kim being a psycho)
