File No: The-K2-EP-13

Appearing before the dramacourt: The K2 EP 13

***If this is your first time browsing The Drama Files, please read The Rules section first for our reviewing and rating system***

Issues:

  1. Whether you have to be at least five steps ahead of everyone else if you have a plan to rule the world?
  2. Whether being overly trusting can be a problem?
  3. Whether everyone and their psychiatrist sons are involved in a conspiracy?

The Rule(s):

  1. Obviously. World domination doesn’t work unless you are way ahead of everyone else.
  2. Obviously. You should especially not be too trusting when you’ve spent half your life locked away in a proverbial (or literal) tower.
  3. Apparently it would seem so. Where’s the fun if no one relevant is involved?

Application:

RedRosette J: Lots of stuff happened in this episode. And I mean lots of stuff. I was trying to wrap my head around the first part and then bombs were dropped with the two Yoon Ahs and then we got thrown into the middle of a massive conspiracy involving the Shady Bunch. Where did they come from? What’s going on? So many questions. On the plus side though, we were subjected to less of the awkward romance and we saw more of Je Ha doing actual work. Which, to be honest, is far more interesting than their boring romance. Even in the parts that they were together on screen, there was zero chemistry and she was crying. Again. And he was telling her what to do. Again. Ugh. I’m done with them. I was a huge fan of how the writer chose to show “public perception” through gossipy ajummas getting perms at a hair salon, because well, where else do you think rumour mills are located?

Issue 1: Whether you have to be at least five steps ahead of everyone else if you have a plan to rule the world?

RedRosette J:  Well Duh! How else are you supposed to rule the world? Hats off to Yoo Jin for being the villain we all love to hate. She’s literally been ahead of the game for so long. I mean who saw that whole “fake witness” thing coming? I mean I knew that there was something off about that guy, but I did not guess that she had something to do with it. I totally though he was Uncle CEO’s crony. Wow. Just wow. That’s some brains right there. Not to mention it was Secretary Kim’s doing. I swear she is the ultimate Girl Friday. No contest.

This guy is definitely #TeamYooJin.

But real talk though; what do you do when you’re pushed into a corner? You put into practice a plan that you have already thought about way ahead: you let the cat out of the proverbial bag, toss in a few tears, and completely manipulate the narrative to your advantage. That’s how you a) get out of that corner you’ve been pushed into and b) do some serious damage control peeps. *brushes hands* I really liked seeing everyone’s shocked faces when Yoo Jin outed Se Joon as being An Na’s real dad and then watching him drag An Na’s mom through the mud. Wow. #worstfatherever. (Also I think these two should get Couple of the Year. They are quite a power couple in a twisted and scary way) Yoo Jin, by controlling the narrative, managed to kill two birds with one stone: get Uncle CEO off her case and also control An Na. I can’t even. That’s what being an evil genius is all about people. It definitely pays to have a counter plan to your counter plan. So basically make sure you prep from Plan A to Z if you wanna take over the world.

Yup. Sorry dude.

Your dad’s a liar.

Yes, but this is how you win elections honey.

Manipulating the narrative.

Issue 2: Whether being overly trusting can be a problem?

RedRosette J:  An Na, how many times must we say it? STOP TRUSTING PEOPLE! Come on girl! you were literally locked away AGAINST YOUR WILL in a freakin tower and yet you are so quick to believe everything that everyone says! Ugh. You’d think that being locked away would give her some trust issues. The scene was also very poignant in a sense that we got to see Yoo Jin’s jaded worldview clash with An Na’s naive worldview. An Na talks a big game about avenging her mother but at the end of the day, she has no power or agency to do any of it and she’s back at square one. I do think that the fact that An Na is too trusting is a problem for her. What’s the point of trusting everyone who says they’ll help her with her mother’s case? Uncle CEO was so quick to toss her aside when it no longer benefited him. How stupid is she? She needs to do it herself but she’s too busy crying and hanging out in wispy nightgowns to do anything substantial. Sorry, but I’m all about proactive female leads.

10
Obviously. -_-

We already knew this. Welcome Aboard.

RedRosette J Sidebar: I’m also so glad that Yoo Jin had that confrontation with An Na at her mother’s grave and brought up all those things about Je Ha. An Na needed to hear them and it just proved how immature her relationship with Je Ha is. It’s as if he doesn’t think that she can handle it if he tells her the truth, whereas he was quick to tell Yoo Jin when she asked him. How is that a relationship of equals? It just proved that he’s the adult in the relationship protecting (the childlike) An Na. Please just end this ridiculous love line and have Je Ha end up with Yoo Jin. #TeamYooJinForever.

Issue 3: Whether everyone and their psychiatrist sons are involved in a conspiracy?

RedRosette J: So everyone is in on the conspiracy it seems, including their psychiatrist sons. Things happened very fast; we see Je Ha making a deal with Se Joon and Yoo Jin finding out what Je Ha asked Mirror (I knew there was a catch to giving him the keys to the kingdom in the last episode). Obviously she would know about it. Duh. She’s an evil genius. We’re then thrown into a massive conspiracy involving oil and development plans and psychiatrist sons and the Shady Bunch (which is pretty much like all the chaebol CEOs and the president). Cut to Je Ha trying to steal a piece of incriminating evidence and stirring the pot. There’s this whole scene with the JSS guys being the most obvious tails ever (on purpose!) and its hilarious because we know how much they suck at stealth so, its just them doing what they do best, which is being obvious, but its so funny when they take it a stretch further including making eyes at the guy and awkwardly following him around. But yea, they keep introducing new players and now this conspiracy, and it seems like everyone is involved and everyone knows about it so, how is it a secret anyway?  And everyone wants a piece of that memory card and the Shady Bunch will simply support whoever has the card. Because well duh. I was really hoping that the “thing” that the psychiatrist had stashed was actually something epic like a nuclear bomb or something, but it was just a memory card. Whatever. This latter part of the episode was a lot more interesting though because there was a lot less of An Na’s annoying crying and running.

Who Dis?

RedRosette J Aside: I’m still not sure if Yoo Jin killed An Na’s mom….

Conclusion: Appeal Dismissed.

Rating: 3 = MM. Okay. Fine.

  1. Don’t think she killed Anna’s mom either.
    Thank goodness… less Anna! 🙂
After Je Ha’s shooting incident, due to his amnesia, he won’t remember Anna! Anna who? Then Joo Jin and Je Ha will have their bad ass, adult romance! *wishful thinking*

    1. Normally I’m not a fan of the amnesia trope, but in this case, I really hope he does get amnesia. I can’t deal with this love line.
